Like many other ‘mammies’ out there, I am a ‘Soccer Mom’. Many after school hours are spent driving between training schedules and the all important home and away games.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. Well …. I do complain if the weather is wet and cold and I’m supporting the team from the side lines and can’t feel my feet anymore; but it is great to see the boys enjoying something that is both fun and healthy.

On the side line I am a quite spectator (believe it or not). I stand there shifting weight from one foot to the other, anxiously watching the action and only cheering when a goal is scored or making other ‘noises’ when the opposition score (which is quite often 😉 ). Why am I silent you may ask ….. well, because of the damn ‘Offside Rule’, I just don’t understand it!

Yes, it has been explained to me many times with the salt and pepper shakers and the bottle of red sauce. At home it all makes sense but on the pitch I am completely lost.

In the past I used to cheer on the players, excited if they were forging forward with the ball to score a goal but only to be corrected that ‘they were off side’. So, Now I just stand there and pretend I know what’s going on.

You would think that after all these years living with Liverpool and Chelsea supporters that some of their soccer knowledge would have sunk in by now! 😉
