First Reaction

When I create something by hand for someone, I just love to get feedback from the recipient. Most of the caricatures I create are generally ordered as gifts for other people and my initial feedback from the customer is usually by email or text messages, so I don’t get to see their first reaction.

On Sunday I showcased at the Clonmel Park Hotel Wedding Fair and the host for the day was the lovely Celia Holman Lee.

I decided to create a caricature of Celia and designed it into a poster to promote the event online. I had the caricature printed and mounted, just in case there was the chance to present it to her … and there was.

Celia took the time to visit each and every supplier at the show that day. When she approached my table I stood there with a big grin on my face and said “Hi Celia, I have a little surprise for you” (I know, I could have come up with a better line).

I produced the mounted print and as I handed it to her she screamed with delight! She leaned over and gave me a big hug, a kiss on both cheeks and kept saying ‘I love it!’. She called her husband over and was proudly showing it off to everyone.

There could not have been a better reaction, I was both relieved and overjoyed. In all the excitement I did manage to ask if I could get a quick photo and then I stood beside beautiful Celia with the biggest Cheshire cat grin on me.

Let’s just say …. it really made my day 🙂
